The Grand Junction Fire Department is accepting applications for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics to fill four current vacancies and create a pool of eligible candidates for future vacancies. As an EMT/Paramedic for our department, you will provide immediate response to emergency and non-emergency calls including minor injuries, sudden illness, and casualties arising from road accidents, criminal violence, fires, and other incidents. This is a single-role EMT/Paramedic position, working on an ambulance, 40+ hours/week (12hr Shifts) with occasional overtime.
Compensation:
EMT Starting Range: $21.88 – $24.63 per hour
Paramedic Starting Range: $28.06 – $31.58 per hour

What You’ll Do as an EMT/Paramedic: Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical calls to provide appropriate medical interventions. Obtain medical data including patient identification, medical history, type of accident or nature of illness, rescue measures preceding emergency care, care given at the scene and during transport, and changes in diagnostic signs. Prepare, submit, and maintain reports on EMS activities, incidents, accidents, and other related information. Perform station maintenance. Operate, inspect, and maintain emergency response equipment and vehicles. Participate in public relations, school education programs, group activities, courtesy walk-through visits, and phone inquiries. Perform at the Awareness level at hazardous materials incidents. Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training related to EMS. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
-Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
-Possession of a valid National Registry EMT/EMT Paramedic or State of Colorado EMT/EMT-P certificate.
-Possession of CPR certificate, upon hire.
-Possession of a valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate (Paramedics Only).
-Possession of a Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers or equivalent certificate (Paramedics Only)
-Possession of certification in the National Incident Management System.
-Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, Hazardous Materials Awareness certificate.
-Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid Driver Operator or equivalent certification.
-Must be able to distinguish red and green.
-Must successfully complete a Candidate Level NFPA – 1582 Physical.
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.
-Experience in the EMT/Paramedic certification is preferred but not required

Public Safety Dispatch Telecommunicator

In accordance with the appropriate standards, policies and procedures, answers and responds to 911 emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone calls for police, fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and other associated services in the Town of Greenwich.
Position reports to the Lead Dispatcher or Operations Lieutenant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Determines critical information for prioritizing and processing calls, simultaneously entering and coding information into industry-specific software.
Directs calls to the appropriate personnel needed to respond to an incident.
Dispatches police, fire, EMS, and other associated services personnel and equipment to locations requiring assistance, relaying accurate names, addresses, and incident information.
Responds to and records messages from the public and private alarm companies.
Maintains records of assigned public safety units in regard to the date, time, location, availability and type of equipment.
Maintains a continuous log of all radio and telephone messages.
Utilizes law enforcement computer systems to input data and obtain information on licenses, vehicle registrations, wants and warrants.
Monitors National Crime Information Center (NCIC) teletypes for relevant information and directs that information to the appropriate personnel.
Keeps current on specific crime problems or unusual police, fire or EMS operations that must be considered when dispatching.
Completes follow-up reports and related records as required.
Supports Town policies and philosophies.
Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma plus three (3) years of professional experience in the provision of services using computer technology in a fast-paced environment, or in the provision of public safety services. Prior public safety telecommunications experience preferred.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of the geographic boundaries of the Town, including location of streets, important buildings and sub-divisions.
Proven knowledge of the appropriate use of radio, telephone and transmission equipment.
Demonstrated ability to maintain composure during emergency situations.
Proven ability to effectively multi-task.
Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize a computer, two-way radio, multiple-button telephone, telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD), and other equipment used for dispatch and recording.
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply laws, ordinances, departmental policies, rules and instructions.
Proven ability to work as part of a team and maintain positive working relationships.

Job Description
Conduct fire safety, home safety, fire extinguisher and pre-fire planning inspections
Provide information to the public, install smoke detectors, conduct station tours, visit schools, and participate in public education standbys.
Performs fire suppression duties by responding to emergency fire alarms, structural, residential, commercial, industrial, chemical, petroleum, vehicle, aircraft and Wildland fires; applying the appropriate extinguishing agents to the source of the fire.
Operates various pieces of fire equipment and gear for fire suppression and control; drives and operates fire apparatus; search and rescue; ventilation and salvage operations.
Provides written reports detailing specific firefighting, rescue actions taken on scene, and patient care.
Respond to emergency medical calls by evaluating situations and transfers patients to medical facilities.
Provides emergency and non-emergency medical procedures both on scene and in a moving vehicle.
Treat patients in accordance with established Emergency Medical Service Protocols and AMR / Kurtz Fire Department policy.
Conduct daily and weekly vehicle and equipment inspections as assigned.
Ensure all vehicle and equipment discrepancies are documented and reported to the on-duty Fire Captain.
Participate in all required training sessions, including, but not limited to; live fire drills, performance evaluation drills, ongoing skills maintenance, practice and training, annual OSHA drills, EMS major skills and any other mandatory Company training.
Reviews paperwork for accuracy and correct process.
Implements corrective/preventive measures.
Cooperates with Internal Audit, Compliance and HR on any recommendations and changes to compliance and legal workflow issues.
Complies and enforces all policies and procedures.
Must successfully complete all required Compliance Training within the required time period and must have no compliance related corrective action during the current review period.
