NORTHFIELD, Vt. — Norwich University is proud to announce the addition of the Continuity of Governmental Operations concentration to the online Master of Science in Business Continuity Management (MSBC) program. This concentration has been designed in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is for those working at governmental agencies that require the knowledge and skills needed to implement a Continuity of Operations Program to ensure their organization’s continued functioning during a disaster. For more information, visit http://businesscontinuity.norwich.edu/. In 2007, President Bush signed the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 51, which required continuity programs to be incorporated into daily operations of all executive departments and agencies. The Master of Science in Business Continuity Management program builds upon this directive and develops leaders in the business continuity field. The curriculum explores emergency management, organizational resiliency, risk management, and plan testing and auditing.
Graduates will master the policies, procedures and structure of an organization-wide business continuity program, gaining expertise in both theory and practice. The Continuity of Government Operations concentration is suitable for professionals with continuity of operations plan duties at all levels of government–federal, state, and local. The concentration also prepares students for the FEMA Professional Continuity Practitioners and Master Continuity Practitioner certifications.
