Wisconsin Medics Teach Officers to Administer Narcan

GERMANTOWN (TMJ4) – The same officers who arrest people for heroin possession now possess the skills to save their lives. Starting Monday, every Germantown police squad will carry doses of Narcan, the controversial life-saving drug that treats heroin opiate overdoses. “Sometimes [police officers] are the first ones on scene, especially on the third shift hours and time is of the essence,” Chief Peter Hoell tells TODAY’S TMJ4. “We have to save someone’s life no matter how they put themselves in that position.”
