NY Fire Department and Ambulance Squad Investigate Possible $500K Theft

Chaumont Volunteer Fire Department and Cape Vincent Ambulance Squad are taking legal action to uncover possible financial misconduct that may have cost them up to half a million dollars.

Court documents filed by the agencies allege that significant funds may have been misappropriated over the past six years. The lawsuit names “John and Jane Doe” as defendants, and is trying to identify the responsible parties, WWNY reports.

According to the complaint, the individuals in question may have been employees, officers, or held managerial roles within the organizations.

The agencies are seeking to recover the allegedly missing $500,000, and requesting requesting access to financial records to further the investigation.

A Syracuse-based attorney representing the fire department and ambulance squad emphasized that no definitive facts have been established yet. The lawsuit was filed primarily to obtain bank records that could clarify the situation.
