Team members from the Global Medical Response (GMR) Office of Emergency Management (OEM) team were recognized with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) Excellence Awards for their contributions to the FEMA National Emergency Contracts Team in 2022. The winners were announced by Paul Courtney, DHS CPO, on May 25.

The CPO Excellence Awards recognize outstanding individuals and teams across the DHS procurement and acquisition communities who went above and beyond to enable the DHS mission during the previous fiscal year.

Mike Ragone, chief of fire and federal services, and Brett Dragun, director federal liaison officer, were recognized with Partnership Awards for their contributions to the FEMA National Emergency Contracts Team. American Medical Response, a GMR brand, is the prime contractor for the national medical support services contract with FEMA. The award recognizes Dragun, Ragone and OEM for providing stellar support for COVID-19 pandemic response efforts.

“On behalf of the Office of Emergency Management team, the first responders at GMR and our network providers who help respond at a moment’s notice to natural disasters, acts of terrorism and public health emergencies through our contract with FEMA, Brett and I are proud to accept these awards,” said Ragone. “We also appreciate the recognition and ongoing partnership from DHS, FEMA and the office of the CPO.”

Ragone and Dragun attended the CPO Excellence Awards event in Washington, D.C., on June 27, where they accepted their awards.
