Emergency Dispatch Centers Report Disruptions Around the U.S.

Emergency call centers around the United States reported outages for at least 30 minutes Monday night, agencies from Arizona, Florida and Minnesota reported.

The 911 service disruptions came as Microsoft reported widespread outages to several of its products. It was not immediately clear if the Microsoft problems played a role in the dispatch outage.

Minneapolis Police, and many other departments, were using social media channels to tell civilians to call in using non-emergency phone numbers.

Microsoft Azure, the Microsoft’s cloud computing service, posted the following message: “A subset of customers in the Azure Public and Azure Government clouds may encounter errors performing authentication operations for a number of Microsoft or Azure services.”

The New York Police Department told CNN its 911 services reported no outages, but it did have problems with Microsoft accounts.
