Camden County is launching its first EMS agency this weekend, after years of relying on neighboring Pasquotank County.
The agency, which has been in development for nearly two years, will officially begin operations on Saturday with three new ambulances – two units operating round-the-clock and another on a 12-hour shift.
The agency’s goal is to bring down response times down to about eight minutes. The agency has had medics training for the last month to prepare for the launch.
Joe Zaller, director of the new EMS agency, told 13 News Now the Camden County team is pleased to have the chance to build the agency without any legacy systems or procedures that can hinder a service from being progressive.
