Pause for a Moment

National EMS Memorial Service to hold National Moment of Silence

The 14th annual National Moment of Silence will be observed at 1930 HRS (MDT) on Saturday, June 25 in conjunction with the National EMS Memorial Service to be conducted this year in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The National Moment of Silence allows EMS providers and agencies throughout the country the opportunity to participate in the National EMS Memorial Service honoring members of emergency medical services who have died in the line of duty.

To participate, providers, agencies and emergency communication centers are asked to observe a moment of radio silence timed to coincide with the moment of silence observed during the annual national service. A suggested script is available at www.nemsms.org/silence.htm.

Since 1992, the National EMS Memorial Service has been honoring America’s EMS providers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This year, 43 individuals from 18 states will be honored. Members of the honorees’ families will be presented with a medallion, a U.S. flag that has flown over the nation’s Capitol and a white rose. Each honoree’s name will be engraved on a bronze oak leaf and added to the Tree of Life at the National EMS Memorial, now located in Colorado Springs.

A complete list of the honorees is available at www.nemsms.org.
