Rollin J. Fairbanks, MD, MS

Rollin J. (Terry) Fairbanks, MD, MS, is director of the National Center for Human Factors Engineering in Healthcare, part of the MedStar Institute for Innovation in Washington D.C. He's an associate professor of emergency medicine at Georgetown University; and an emergency physician at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Fairbanks is a former paramedic and former EMS medical director. Prior to moving to Washington DC, he was a faculty member at the University of Rochester's Division of Prehospital Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, associate regional medical director and REMAC chair for the Monroe and Livingston Counties EMS Region, and medical director for several EMS agencies in the Rochester, N.Y., area. Prior to this he was an EMS provider for 15 years. Dr. Fairbanks' group conducts research and consulting in patient safety.
