Jan-Thorsten Gräsner is a German anesthesiologist, emergency physician, university lecturer, health services researcher and director of the Institute for Rescue and Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein. His scientific focus is on emergency medicine, quality management and especially resuscitation. Jan-Thorsten Gräsner began his medical career in 2000 as an assistant physician. In 2002, he received his doctorate (Dr. med.) and became a member of the European Resuscitation Council. Since 2010, Gräsner has been Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein. In 2012, he completed his habilitation. Since 2015, Gräsner has been Director of the newly founded Institute for Rescue and Emergency Medicine (IRuN). Gräsner continues to be medically active as an emergency physician and chief emergency physician in the state capital Kiel and as an emergency physician on the rescue helicopter Christoph 42.
