Erich Barber, BA, NREMT-B, has been working for Grand County (Colo.) Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) for over 10 years. He earned an EMT certification while serving his community as a volunteer firefighter. Now a captain at GCEMS, he manages the Mountain Medical Response Team, a specialized division that assists search and rescue by providing medical care in the backcountry of the Rocky Mountains. Before EMS, he worked in the mental health field, utilizing his bachelor’s degree in psychology and youth guidance he earned through Colorado Christian University. Positions included executive director of a residential treatment center, group living director and counselor.
