Connie J. Mattera, MS, RN, EMT-P

Connie Mattera, MS, RN, EMT-P, TNS provides administrative and educational leadership for the Northwest Community EMS System in Arlington Heights, IL fulfilling the duties outlined in the Illinois EMS Act and Rules for the roles of EMS Administrative Director and the EMS System Coordinator. Her extensive job description includes creating and implementing the System Strategic Plan, Policy Manual, Procedure Manual, IDPH Plan; member licensure and relicensure activities for personnel and vehicles, liaison to Harper College; Region IX; IDPH; and day to day management of the System and director for the EMS staff. She is the State of Illinois Trauma Nurse Specialist Course Coordinator at NCH where she teaches the majority of the course and serves as the State's senior editor for the TNS curriculum. She is the NWC EMSS liaison to the Region IX Trauma Committee. She prepares In-station CE modules; teaches in all the EMS classes (EMT, paramedic, CE, and ECRN); and serves on a wide variety of boards and committees (chairs the IDPH EMS Education Committee; serves on Planning and Legislation; and is a member of the Governor's EMS Advisory Council). She serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of EMS Educators and the Executive Committee of the BOD of Advocates for EMS and is a member of the editorial board of JEMS magazine. Connie is an author and frequent conference speaker. She is the System liaison to the Chiefs/administrators; Provider EMS Coordinators (PEMSCs); Hospital EMS Coordinators/ Educators; Education Committee; Computer Aided Reporting System (CARS) Committee where she helps to design and maintain the System website; and Advisory Board.
