Palliative Medicine and EMS: A Primer for the Community Paramedic

This class introduces EMS providers to the concept of palliative medicine--what it is, how it is different than hospice medicine, clinical pearls, medications for symptom management, and tools and techniques for having difficult end-of-life/goals of care conversations. During this Webcast, we will cover the basic definitions of palliative medicine, differentiate palliative care from hospice care, review palliative medicine skills such as breaking bad news, interviewing for goals of care, and urgent or emergent palliative care consultation.
