LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Dr. Warren Yamarick, who was fired last year after he was reportedly critical of proposed changes to the town’s EMS service, is back at the helm — at least for now.

A new majority on the local board of trustees appointed him back on an interim basis at its organizational meeting last week, This Week Community News reports.

He was with the township for 28 years before that.

“But the way Dr. Yamarick was treated was appalling,” said Shyra Eichhorn, a board trustee. “We needed to hit the reset button on that one.”

The board will be looking to fill the medical director position on a permanent basis.

Trustees also passed a resolution pledging support to the Liberty Township Fire Department as the primary fire and EMS services provider and withdrew previous communication with a neighboring county to be the township’s EMS provider.
