Mechanical issues are being blamed for an ambulance fire that forced the crew to ditch it while driving.

The Ava Ambulance District (MO) ambulance had just underwent maintenance in Springfield and was driving back to base when the fire broke out Thursday afternoon, KY3-TV reports.

“We believe it was brought on by a mechanical issue, and will work with the manufacturer to investigate,” Kaitlyn McConnell, a media relations manager for CoxHealth, told the station. “To the best of our knowledge, this has never happened in CoxHealth’s history.”

The fire caused an estimated $350,000 in damages. No one was hurt.
