A 21-year-old EMT from Florida is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle Sunday while he was helping victims of a crash.

Dawson Rice suffered several fractures to his pelvis and left arm and had his spleen removed. His father, Jerry, said his son’s bladder was ruptured.

Dawson was hit by a car driven by a 35-year-old male early Sunday morning Kissimmee, according to FOX 35 Orlando. The driver was cited for careless driving.

Dawson’s parents have not been able to see him yet because of COVID-19 restrictions at the hospital.

He remains at Osceola Regional Medical Center.
