A Tennessee paramedic charged with assaulting a drug overdose patient Saturday was later fired, according to a report.

Authorities say East Ridge Police Officers saw Paramedic Bob Bennett strike Samuel McCallister’s back with his right foot and with a closed fist to his chest. WRCB-TV reports it’s believe Bennett previously treated McCallister before.

Part of the alleged assault was caught on police body cam footage.

Bennett stopped hitting McCallister and started treating him before officers were able to intervene.

McCallister was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Parkridge East for treatment.
