New York EMT Dies after Working Shift

It is with deep sadness that on Thursday, April 23rd, 2020, the Franklin County Fire (NY) and EMS service lost a dedicated and highly respected member.

Jonathan ‘Thunder’ Damon passed away suddenly late Thursday evening while working his shift as a paid medic for the Tupper Lake EMS. Jonathan started his shift April 22, 2020, at 1800. At 2325 Jonathan responded with Tupper Lake EMS to a 911 call.

Jonathan and EMS crew transported the patient to Adirondack Medical Center. Upon return to the EMS station Jonathan continued his routine activities. At 0914 on April 23, 2020, Jonathan called 911 requesting medical assistance. At that time he was transported to Adirondack Medical Center and then flown to University of Vermont Medical Center.

At approximately 2300 on April 23, 2020, Jonathan Damon was pronounced deceased. We are currently awaiting results from pending autopsy.

Jonathan was an active member of several Franklin County Fire and EMS agencies throughout the last 20 years, serving as both a firefighter and AEMT and most recently volunteered with the Chateaugay / Bellmont Fire District.
