Skilled Nursing Facilities in many areas are surfacing as “hot spots” and clusters of COVID-19 outbreaks. On this episode of the EMS TODAY Show, Randy Katz, DO, and JEMS Editor Emeritus A.J. Heightman discuss special considerations for EMS Systems relative to them in their service area and the importance of educating and coordinating with these facilities.
Randy Katz, DO, is Medical Director, Emergency Services, Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. He is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999 and completed his internship at Maimonides Medical Center in 2000.
He completed his emergency and internal medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in 2004. He has served as the Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Memorial Regional Hospital since 2008.
He is also medical director for the City of Hollywood Fire Rescue and the medical director for Medics Ambulance Service.
