PEORIA, Ill. – EMTs are getting ballistic vets and helmets following recent mass shootings, according to reports.
The Peoria City County approved a budget amendment last night that gives the local fire and police departments $50,000 to purchase the body armor. EMS services are part of the fire department.
The equipment includes armor shields, rifle plate vests, and ballistic shields and helmets, WMBD-TV reports.
WEEK-TV reports the council approved the body armor purchase unanimously.
