Video: Spinal Motion Restriction

In this video, JEMS Executive Editor Mike McEvoy discusses the goal of limiting movement of the spine in a patient who may have sustained a spine injury. He covers the reasons for employing this technique–namely, limiting lateral movement, rotation, and flexion of the spine–and discusses when not to use it, as well as demonstrating its application using a scoop stretcher to move a patient located in a difficult-to-access area.
