A Report From the abc360 Conference in St. Louis

JEMS Sales Consultant Melissa Roberts attended the abc360 Conference on April 12 and 13 in St. Louis, MO.   The abc360 Conference is focused on ambulance revenue cycle management and compliance

Wednesday’s program included six breakout sessions focused on revenue cycle management, compliance and practical skills.   Amanda Ward, associate attorney at Page, Wolfberg & Wirth, LLC, led a session called “Commercial Payers:  Top Payment and Compliance Issues.”  In her session, Ward suggested that one of the biggest issues most organizations face is that each policy is unique and must be treated as such.

Ward led the group as they walked through several examples.  She covered a variety of issues, including medical necessity, A0432 dilemmas, Medicare Secondary Payer, Contracting, Paying Patients Directly, emergency vs. non-emergency issues, high deductibles and AKS/FCA compliance, among others.

Thursday morning kicked off with a packed house for the EMS documentation megatrack.  In his session called “Six Strategies for Improving Crew Documentation,” Steve Wirth, founding partner of Page, Wolfberg & Wirth, LLC, addressed the importance of documentation and training crew members in this area before outlining six strategies for addressing documentation challenges.

The last abc360 Conference will be held June 7-8 in Clearwater Beach, FL.  Visit the abc360 website to register.
