First responders are a vital piece of managing any disaster or emergency relief effort. These selfless volunteers are the ones who run towards danger when others flee from it.
As a community, we have a responsibility to support these brave men and women who will put everything on the line to help complete strangers in need at a moment’s notice. That’s why Sweeney Merrigan Law LLP is proud to offer a $1,500 scholarship to aid first responders who have decided to further their education by enrolling in post-secondary education.
With their First Responder Scholarship, the firm is giving back to one of these brave individuals by covering school related costs such as tuition, books, and supplies.
Applicants are asked to submit proof of enrollment in an accredited post-secondary institution, proof of first responder certification, and a 500+ word essay which shares their past experiences as well as how the funds will assist with future goals.
“In remembrance of the heroic acts of first responders at the Boston Marathon, our practice wanted to do something special to thank these volunteers,” says founding partner Tucker Merrgian. “These men and women are there for us in times of need, and it’s the least we can do to show that we are here to support them.”
The Scholarship is available to all first responders in the United States, and applications will be accepted until September 1, 2016. After the deadline, the attorneys at Sweeney Merrigan Law will review the entries and pick one applicant who has best demonstrated both their experiences as a first responder and their need for financial aid.
