FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) – A crash involving a private ambulance has left some injured and caused for road closures in the Fairfax area Wednesday morning, Fairfax County police said.
The crash happened in the 3300 block of Gallows Road right in front of the INOVA Fairfax Hospital around 5 a.m. Northbound Gallows Road is currently shut down. The ambulance crashed into a telephone pole.
The driver was trapped, had to be extricated and was then taken to the hospital, authorities said. The driver is in non-life-threatening condition. Authorities said the ambulance was transporting one person along with an ill patients. Their conditions are unknown.
The investigation remains ongoing.
