Protection for Your Crew
In EMS we have the potential risk of being exposed to many things that can harm or even kill us: chemical contamination, bacteria, bloodborne pathogens, viruses, SARS, Ebola and all the other bad stuff you can think of. The Containment Stretcherfrom Quantum EMS is a negative-pressure isolation cell useful for transporting a contaminated patient safely to definitive care. A filter engine at the foot of the Containment Stretcher provides the negative-pressure environment that keeps microorganisms and other bad stuff inside and away from providers. The Containment Stretcher is waterproof and has three input filters coupled to the vacuum motor that not only filter outside air but also prevent any air from escaping. There are also four patient straps and two stretcher straps that secure the Containment Stretcher to your cot or other transport device.

New Liquid Suspension System
One of the biggest challenges with using a medium-duty truck chassis for an ambulance is finding a suspension system that can provide stability as well as a smooth ride. CLASS (Compressible Liquid Adaptive Suspension System) from Liquid Spring Technologies is a suspension system that uses a compressible fluid instead of conventional springs and shock absorbers, and is available for many medium-duty chassis ambulances in current use. The system works by directing fluid through a rate valve between the fluid volume and the strut. The system automatically adjusts spring stiffness and damping at each wheel, allowing for a smooth, stable ride based on vehicle load and current road conditions. The system automatically compensates for changes in balance and vehicle payload distribution. An electronic driver interface allows the driver to change ride modes and ride heights when needed.

Powerful Portable Suction
With a patent airway as one of your top priorities, you’d think it would be a no-brainer to have a portable suction unit with you when you arrive at the patient’s side. The problem is that most portable units have to be plugged into a power source in the ambulance or are too big to fit inside your standard airway jump bag. The Quickdrawfrom SSCOR Inc. is small enough to fit in your airway bag and powerful enough to handle the toughest job. The Quickdraw has three configuration options: 1) 1 m of patient tubing and an S3 oropharyngeal evacuation tool; 2) standard suction tubing for use with common suction tips; and 3) integral catheter enabling the canister to be used as a handheld suction unit. The QuickDraw is the first medical aspirator that can be powered with standard AAA alkaline batteries, giving you up to three hours of power. It’s also available in a rechargeable version.
