Colorado Toddler Rescued from Sump Pump Hole

A toddler who fell into a sump pump hole Wednesday afternoon was quickly rescued by emergency responders, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy, 2, was playing outside on the 3500 block of Red Baron Drive and fell in the hole, according to Jackie Kirby, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office. He was in there for about 20 minutes before a Security firefighter rescued him.

Kirby was unsure how deep the hole was, but initial reports heard over emergency police radio said the hole was about 15 feet deep.

The boy was OK but was taken to a hospital to check him out as a precaution.
