ROC Fire Audio – October 22, 2014 – A gunman opened fire on a soldier standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Canadian National War Memorial just before 10:00am. The shooter then fled towards Parliament Hill where he was killed in an exchange of gunfire with security personnel inside the main Parliament building. A total of four people were reportedly transported to Ottawa Civic Hospital including three who were treated and released, and the soldier who was killed.
Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, 24, a reservist from Hamilton, Ontario was killed while serving as an honorary guard at the National War Memorial. He was assigned to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada regiment. He leaves behind a young son and two dogs.
This clip contains audio of EMS units being dispatched to the scene but very little on-scene traffic as the operation was moved to a TAC channel that is not broadcast. It has been edited for time by removing silent breaks and unrelated radio traffic.
