Keeping Infants Warm

Some of the busiest emergency ambulance services in the world, including London Ambulance Service, have recently added a new product to their obstetric kits. The Blizzard Baby Wrap from PerSys Medical is an insulated blanket that prevents temperature loss in infants. It’s constructed with three layers of Reflexcell, an insulated material that provides a windproof and waterproof barrier while keeping the infant warm and protected from cold environments. The Blizzard Baby Wrap has a built-in hood that stops heat loss through the head, which is where infants lose heat the fastest. It has a self-adhesive opening that can be resealed, allowing you to reevaluate and reexamine the infant if necessary during treatment and transport.

StatusNet911 from DataTech911 is a cloud-based platform that allows all agencies in the area to have instant 24/7 access to incident information from the moment of the 9-1-1 call. Agencies have access to vehicle response and unit locations, patient distribution and transport locations, public safety answering point computer aided dispatch data and hospital diversion status, as well as providing an open line of communication between all agencies involved. StatusNet911 can also send custom alerts through the application and to pagers and email addresses. This system can improve response times, organize system resources and allows for seamless communication.

Easy Patient Transport

I’m a big fan of anything that makes moving patients easier and limits the chance of back injury for rescuers. The AmbuCarrier from First Line Technologies accomplishes both of these things. The AmbuCarrier is a transport device with large wheels that make it easy for a single rescuer to move a patient through an incident. A backboard or the AmbuStretcher can be attached to the carrier and only requires a single rescuer to lift and deploy for transport. The carrier folds for easy storage and when put into service, can support up to 350 lbs. The AmbuCarrier is also designed to be used onboard the 2014 JEMS Hot Product from EMS Today AmbuBus Kit.

More than a Tourniquet

We know if you can control hemorrhage early, your patient has a much greater chance of survival. We have many different tools to help in controlling hemorrhage, but some can’t be used in certain types of injuries. The SWAT-T Tourniquet from TEMS Solutions is a multipurpose hemorrhage control device. The name of this product conveniently explains how to use it: Stretch, Wrap and Tuck, and it features detailed, easy-to-follow instructions printed on the bandage itself. Unlike most tourniquets, the SWAT-T can be used as a primary tourniquet in areas such as the groin or axilla. It can also be used as a pressure wrap, providing hands-free, direct pressure wherever needed. The SWAT-T is perfect for other medical situations including holding ice packs in place or slinging a shoulder. Ideal for military, tactical and civilian EMS services, the SWAT-T is affordable, compact and versatile.
