D.C. Rescue Squad Responds to Unusual Ambulance Call

WASHINGTON (WJLA) – A rescue squad had to be called in at Howard University Hospital Thursday to rescue a person from the back of a District of Columbia ambulance.

Officials say that a patient was being transported to Howard with undisclosed but non-life threatening injuries sustained in a car accident just before noon when first responders realized that they couldn’t open the back doors of the ambulance.

The crash happened near where D.C. 295 and Pennsylvania Avenue intersect in Southeast D.C.

D.C. Fire and EMS officials say that a rescue squad met the ambulance at the hospital, where they were able to get the patient out.
