New Jersey EMT Killed in Ambulance Crash

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Bail is set at $300,000 for the man who was driving a minivan that crashed into an ambulance in Newark, killing an ambulance attendant.

Authorities have charged 29-year-old James Sterling of Elizabeth with aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license and eluding.

Monday’s crash also involved a food truck and an Essex County bus.

The crash claimed the life of 30-year-old Keith Chipepo of Montclair and left the ambulance driver and patient and the driver of the food truck injured.

It’s not known whether Sterling has a lawyer.
