2 Hunters Rescued after Boat Capsizes in Pa. River

WYOMING, Pa. (AP) — Two northeastern Pennsylvania hunters are safe after rescuers plucked them from an island in the Susquehanna River after their boat tipped over.

Luzerne County Sheriff John Gilligan says the two duck hunters ended up in the water around 9 a.m. after trying to push away from a tree. They were able to make their way to the island and were rescued shortly after.

An ambulance crew checked the men out after their ordeal. Wyoming Borough Police Office Ken Karns says the water was very cold and the men were lucky to avoid hypothermia.
