Chicago Doctors Deliver Baby After Mom Dies in Crash

CHICAGO – Doctors in Chicago delivered a baby after the woman carrying him was struck and killed by a vehicle as she walked along a West Side street.

Kim Brown was pronounced dead Wednesday at Stroger Hospital. However, doctors saved Brown’s unborn child, believed about six to seven months along. The child is reported in critical condition.

According to police, the 27-year-old Brown was struck after a van and a minivan collided after the driver of the minivan drove through a red light.

After the impact, Brown and three other pedestrians, two of them children, were struck by the minivan. The children and a second woman are hospitalized in good condition.

Police cited the unidentified driver of the minivan with failure to obey a red light, driving without insurance and driving with a revoked or suspended license.
