Unrestrained Child: Girl was one of the eight passengers injured in a two-car collision

Issue 6 and Volume 34.

Eight people, including a 16-month-old girl, suffered injuries following this two-car collision in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York. The Dix Hills Fire Department (DHFD) responded to the accident with three ambulances, two heavy-rescue trucks and a paramedic unit, along with 25 fire/rescue personnel. DHFD Rescue Squad ambulances transported the patients to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment,; mostly for neck and back injuries. The child pictured here, who was sitting unrestrained on her mother_s lap when the crash occurred, suffered lacerations on the face, head, shoulder and back. She was fully immobilized.
