EMT Charged with Sexually Abusing Boy

A Wayne County emergency medical technician left his cell phone at the wrong place.

Now he’s incarcerated in Wayne County jail on charges that he sexually abused a young boy over the past two to three years and7Schwarztook sexually explicit photos of the boy on his cell phone, state police in Wolcott said Monday.

Troopers charged Nathan E. Schwarz, 33, of 3476 Humphrey Road, Cato, with felony charges of predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree criminal sex act, use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child, Investigator Doug Thomas said.

Schwarz was arrested last Wednesday after he left his cell phone at the victim’s home and someone at the residence discovered the photographs of the boy on the phone, Thomas said.

Schwarz also is accused of transmitting two of those photographs to an undisclosed location.

State police also are investigating the possibility that Schwarz sexually abused another victim, Thomas said.

Schwarz is a paid EMT with the Wolcott Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Red Creek Ambulance, but troopers said none of the abuse happened while Schwarz was working.

He remained in county jail Monday in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bail bond and is to appear in Wolcott town court on June 4.

State police are trying to track down where the sexually explicit photographs were sent and whether Schwarz used his work computers to access or transmit any illegal pictures of children, Thomas said.
