Hold the Ambulance: A Man s Got to Vote

LOS ANGELES — Poll worker Herdon Shelnut would not be deterred.

Shelnut, 64, lost consciousness while passing out ballots at the Compton Airport polling place this morning.

It so happened that two would-be voters were nurses. They came to his aid, and the fire department was called.

Before the firemen were ready to wheel him out, someone asked Shelnut if he had voted. He hadn’t.
