Mary Beth Michos has been named deputy executive director/chief of operations for the IAFC, beginning this month. One of the nation_s first female fire chiefs and a long-time EMS leader, Michos is the immediate past chair of the NREMT Board of Directors, sits on the board of the IAFC Foundation and is active in the IAFC EMS Section. In 2003, she won the IAFC James O. Page EMS Award and Fire Chief Magazine named her ˙Professional Fire Chief of the Year.Ó She resigned as chief of Prince William County (Va.) Fire & Rescue Department to assume her new IAFC position.

Bob Leopold is the new EMS and trauma director for the Oregon Department of Health. Previously, he was the Nebraska EMS administrator.

Marianne Gausche-Hill,„Susan Fuchs,„Marie Renzi,„Shauman Hatton-Ward and„Howard Corneli are recipients of the EMS for Children National Resource Center_s 2007 National Heroes Award.

Jim Paturas, deputy director of the Yale New Haven Center for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response and former NAEMT president, was selected to serve on FEMA_s National Advisory Council in the standards setting category.

William A. Sanger, chairman and CEO of Emergency Medical ServicesƒAMR_s parent companyƒwon this year_s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 Award in the health-care category in the Rocky Mountain Region.
