Wayne M. Zygowicz, BA, EMT-P

Wayne Zygowicz is a 30-year veteran of the fire service and has served as a Paramedic/Firefighter for over 25 years. Wayne has held the ranks of Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant and Captain prior to being promoted to EMS Chief with Littleton (Colorado) Fire Rescue in 1998. He is an instructor at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland where he teaching leadership and management. He is a graduate of the Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program. Wayne is earning his master’s degree in executive leadership at Grand Canyon University.

Under his leadership, Littleton Fire Rescue has become a full Advanced Life Support fire based EMS service with eight ALS engine companies complimenting five ALS transport units. Littleton Fire Rescue is nationally known for incorporating state-of-the-art medical equipment with innovative training techniques to provide the highest level of customer service available to the communities they serve. Wayne was instrumental in the development of Littleton’s Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) team after the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton.

Wayne is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Emergency Medicine Services, a writer and a nationally known speaker on fire and EMS topics.
