Michigan EMS Providers Treat Heat Stroke
Heat index approaches 110
Grand Rapids, Mich. — EMS is on alert for heat stroke in Michigan. The heat index peaks around 110. EMS says the danger is, "heat stroke sneaks up on you." Providers worry more about heat exhaustion and heat stroke in upcoming days. The theory is that people returning to work will have extra work to pack into a shorter week after having been off for the holiday. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are of particular concern for people with outdoor jobs, such as construction workers. The geriatric patient population is a primary concern.
