MEMPHIS (WREG) - The Memphis Fire Department is on standby ready to respond to emergencies. "We have 33 ambulances in service every single day," said Memphis Fire Director Alvin Benson. As the heat rises, the department increases its readiness by adding crews. "What we do is try to be proactive and preemptive and put additional ambulances in service when there is a heat advisory," said Benson.
