Dozens of Firefighters Injured Fighting NJ 4-Alarm Blaze

More than 12 firefighters hospitalized after being overcome by heat

At least 45 firefighters were treated, including at least 12 who were hospitalized, after being overcome by heat while battling a 4-alarm blaze that burned at least three homes in Jersey City, N.J.

The fire started about 12:30 as temperatures in the area hit the upper 90s.

One of those hospitalized also suffered an ankle injury.

The fire may have started in an illegal apartment building, according to fire department officials, the Jersey Journal reported.
