As the use of tourniquets increases in the battle zone, rest assured they'll be back in use in civilian medicine in due time. Designed for one-hand application, the Combat Application Tourniquet (C.A.T.) from North American Rescue Products uses a well-designed windlass system with a free-moving internal band to produce circumferential pressure around the extremity. Once the tourniquet is tightened and bleeding has stopped, the windlass is securely locked in place with a Velcro strap.
