The team of seasoned field providers, educators and EMS procurement specialists met with 227 exhibitors, reviewing products recently introduced to our industry and asking about product design, rationale, function and practical application for prehospital medicine. Easy Stretcher-to-Bed Transfer
The Air Pal Patient Mover air mattress allows a 98-lb. person using just two fingers to laterally transfer a 200-lb. (or more) patient from the ambulance stretcher to a hospital bed. A low-pressure, high-volume blower forces air out of a series of pinholes in the underside of the mattress (see below), similar to those on an air-hockey table. This flow of air reduces the friction and creates the weight-moving advantage.
