LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a man who was being taken by ambulance to a Las Vegas hospital jumped out of an ambulance and was hit by a passing truck.
A Las Vegas police spokesman says the man was badly hurt and was taken to a trauma center following the 12:35 p.m. Wednesday incident on a busy boulevard several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.
A Clark County fire spokesman says the initial medical call was just before noon at a home on a residential street about a mile from the crash scene.
A spokeswoman for American Medical Response says the ambulance wasn't using lights and siren, and the driver pulled to the side of the road before the man jumped out the back doors.
The patient's name wasn't made public.
