MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A Ruby Memorial Hospital nurse hurt in a 2009 ambulance crash is suing Monongalia EMS, accusing its driver of reckless driving.
Neonatal transport nurse Melissa Slavensky was caring for a prematurely born Maryland girl who needed specialized respiratory services in Morgantown when the ambulance hit a median and flipped.
A sheriff's deputy told The Dominion Post that driver Joshua Slagle of Fairmont failed to maintain control while passing vehicles.
The baby survived.
Slavensky says she suffered broken arms, a head blow, scarring and disfigurement, and reactions to medications for both her pain and hospital-acquired infections.
Monongalia EMS said no one was available to comment Wednesday.
A message for Slagle was not immediately returned.
