ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A hot day has taken a toll on about 50 U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen during the Color Parade that is held each year during graduation week.
Judy Campbell, a Naval Academy spokeswoman, says 10 people were taken to area hospitals on Thursday as a precaution, including four civilians.
Campbell says some midshipmen passed out during the parade, while some took a knee due to the hot and humid weather. Midshipmen march in full dress during the parade.
The Color Parade is the oldest special parade at the U.S. Naval Academy, a tradition that began in 1871.
Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to address the academy's commissioning ceremony on Friday in Annapolis.
