Thursday, October 24, 2013

SAN DIEGO - One person was killed in a crash that shut down a University City intersection Wednesday. The collision involving at least four vehicles was reported at about 10:50 a.m. at La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee Avenue, according to San Diego police.

Police said they believe a silver Toyota Prius traveling westbound on La Jolla Village Drive ran a red light and struck two vehicles turning from southbound Genesee Avenue onto eastbound La Jolla Village Drive. The Prius also struck a pickup truck that was turning onto La Jolla Village Drive from northbound Genesee Avenue, police said.

Medics took at least one person to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries and performed CPR on another patient at the scene of the accident. Sky 10 footage showed crews covering one person with a yellow tarp.  Another person suffered minor injuries and another person did not require transport.
