Based on the QuikClot bandages deployed by all branches of the U.S. military and numerous EMS agencies and hospitals, QuikClot Sport and QuikClot Sport Silver (OTC) versions also stop bleeding fast. QuikClot Sport Silver offers the antibacterial advantage of ionic silver, with testing showing that its antibacterial efficacy kills MRSA and other methicillin-resistant bacteria (Staph, Aureus, Ancinetobacter, Enteric group 137 and E. EMSnow has a multi-functional, easy-to-apply and transfer pediatric extremity immobilization device. The REEL Splint Tactical System Junior is the natural extension of the REEL Splint Tactical System adult model, and it's highly suited for a vast array of both pediatric lower extremity immobilizations, as well as the more rarely occurring traction case, clearly a demonstrated hybrid use advantage. The Junior REEL splint is also highly effective in the management and treatment of a variety of upper extremity and shoulder dislocation cases in the smaller adult patient. Statistical test evidence shows the REEL product to be 2,000% more useful than just a pediatric traction splint.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is one of the most helpful pieces of medical equipment to emerge in EMS in more than 30 years. 24-7 EMS is one of the first to deliver the training and information EMS providers need to use CPAP. The video component of this timely class features Baxter Larmon, PhD, MICP. It reviews how CPAP works, patient care benefits, indications and contraindications, and device application demonstration. This class is CECBEMS-approved for 1.5 CEUs and is available in the classroom and online (at www.24-7emsnow.com ).

Laryngoscope sets with disposable blades are an economical option for routine intubations, saving time and labor by requiring no sterilization, disinfecting or maintenance. They also help eliminate the concern for possible cross-contamination from AIDS, hepatitis and other infectious diseases. A specially designed fiber-optic light column targets the light to give the best view of the larynx, and provides cool, even distal illumination.

ProLogic Inc. unveiled the "wireless onsite narrative" feature now available for use with its EMS Mobile software. EMS personnel use drop-down boxes to make narrative selections, which are then populated into a template form that creates the PCR narrative. The template uses Microsoft Word "mail merge" to pull database information from the tablet computer into the narrative template, which can then be edited by the user. This program allows EMS personnel to insert all National EMS Information System (NEMSIS) elements and prepare their narrative in the field, or while in-transit to the ED. When the user's computer recognizes an approved network, the entire record (narrative included) is transmitted to the server for further disposition (state reporting, NEMSIS reporting), or use as a pre-admission record in the hospital.
