New Concept in Hemorrhage Control
No matter how hard you try, hemorrhage control in some wounds seems nearly impossible. The iTClamp from iTraumaCare is a new, innovative product that will change the way we think about hemorrhage control. The iTClamp controls bleeding in seconds. The concept is simple: By sealing the wound closed, the iTClamp creates a pool of blood beneath the skin allowing a stable clot to form, temporarily stopping the bleeding until the injury can be surgically repaired. Safely Move Extra-Large Patients
Moving any patient down a flight of stairs can be challenging. Moving a bariatric or extra-large patient down a flight of stairs is not only challenging, but there are safety concerns for the patient and the rescuers. It can also cause anxiety for the patient. The BEAR Stair Chair by BEAR-iatrics Inc. attaches to any conventional stair chair frame and becomes part of the chair. Once the patient is seated, the device is buckled around the patient. The lower portion wraps around the thighs and hips and the upper section wraps around the abdominal mass. The otherwise uncontrollable abdominal mass is now centered over the chair and stabilized, eliminating any side-to-side shifting. The patient feels safe and secure and there’s less risk of lifting injuries due to shifting weight.

Realistic Hemorrhage Training
Simulation training has come a long way in recent years. The more realistic the training, the better prepared the student will be to handle a tough situation when they’re confronted with it in the field. Severe hemorrhage control is very stressful. When teaching hemorrhage control we tell the student about direct pressure, tourniquets and clotting products, but until now we haven’t been able to practically show them how to know if their treatment choice is working nor what they should expect to see when the patient’s blood begins to clot. TrueClot Hemorrhage Simulation Blood Simulant from Luna Inc. is a blood simulation product that initiates a clotting reaction when used with Luna’s simulated hemostatic gauze in both direct-pressure and wound-packing scenarios. The blood simulant is non-biologic, easy to clean, and flows realistically though large or small diameter tubing. Its viscosity and color are similar to that of human blood.

Continuous Detection of ECG Changes
The VectraplexECG Rugged System from VectraCor is unique in that it provides continuous, non-invasive real-time detection of ECG changes suggestive of an acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The system is housed in a heavy duty, military-tested laptop computer and allows the user to obtain a 15-lead derived ECG with only five electrodes (V2 plus the four limb leads). It does this by quantifying the cardiac electrical field to detect ECG changes suggestive of an AMI and assigning a number that is displayed on the screen. It then continuously analyzes these data points, displaying them in real time to give you the ability to see changes as they happen without having to run additional ECGs. The system has built-in alarms to let the user know that the patient may be developing an AMI.
