The IAEMSC mission is to support, promote and advance the leadership of EMS response entities and to advocate for the EMS profession. IAEMSC membership is made up of leaders from both career and volunteer EMS organizations and proudly represents and embraces the diversity of EMS agencies throughout the world.
IAEMSC 2010 Highlights
Captain II/Paramedic Andrew Wordin of the Los Angeles City (CA) Fire Department receives his “eagle” at the 2010 IAEMSC Summit in recognition of his selection as the Intermedix/IAEMSC Harvard scholar for 2010. The IAEMSC awards an annual scholarship for an EMS chief to attend the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State and Local Government Executive Education Program. The scholarship is open to all IAEMSC active members.

(L to R) Dr. Kevin Yeskey, Acting Director, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness, United States Department of Health and Human Services and Deputy Administrator Richard Serino of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, United States Department of Homeland Security are introduced by IAEMSC President Lawrence Tan at the 2010 IAEMSC Leadership Summit. Dr. Yeskey and Deputy Administrator Serino provided a joint presentation to EMS chiefs on the Role of EMS in Community Preparedness and Response.

(L to R) IAEMSC President Lawrence Tan, Special Assistant to the President Richard Reed, IAEMSC President-Elect William Sugiyama and IAEMSC Secretary Dan Gerard take a moment at the 2010 IAEMSC Leadership Summit. Mr. Reed briefed the Summit attendees on the status of National Preparedness Policy development and the role of EMS. His dialog with the IAEMSC leadership and Summit attendees led to the IAEMSC and EMS Labor Alliance jointly submitting a white paper to the Administration recommending a consolidation of federal leadership for EMS and designation of a lead federal agency.
IAEMSC 2010 Highlights
Mark K. Shriver, Chairman of the National Commission on Children and Disasters and Vice President for U.S. Programs with Save the Children provides an overview of the commission’s recommendations for improving the Nation’s preparedness to meet the needs of children during a disaster at the 2010 IAEMSC Summit. Mr. Shriver outlined the content of the commission’s final report that was submitted to the President and Congress in October 2010.
