Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Hundreds of thousands of people attend the Indianapolis 500 each year. The combination of medical conditions among spectators and injuries sustained by drivers creates a challenging situation for EMS.
Safety Team
The safety team helps driver Tony Kanaan out of his car following a high-speed crash.
Patient Care Center
The infield patient care center has four driver beds equipped for hemodynamic monitoring in an area suitable for trauma resuscitation. Drivers are brought in through a separate entrance to provide privacy and security.
Medic Teams
The infield hospital is complemented by medic teams that respond throughout the IMS grounds, including seven golf cart ambulances.
